04 Apr Field Intelligence Inc. and Controls Inc. select ORBCOMM for Global Data Communications
Monitoring solution to improve service and control of Tier 4 engine assets
Fort Lee, NJ, May 26, 2011 – ORBCOMM Inc. (Nasdaq: ORBC), a global satellite data communications company focused on two-way Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications, today announced that Field Intelligence, Inc. and Controls, Inc. have partnered to provide a global monitoring solution for the multi-billion dollar diesel and natural gas engine market using ORBCOMM’s satellite communications services.
For over 20 years, Controls has been providing state-of-the-art controls for engines and enginedriven equipment. By leveraging Field Intelligence’s expertise in developing wireless communication solutions for industrial and environmental markets, Controls is providing a wireless remote asset management solution for control panel products for non-road engines with a standard interface for communications and diagnostics.
Enabled by the ORBCOMM satellite network, Field Intelligence’s fully integrated, turnkey solution allows Controls’ customers to track engine equipment anywhere in the world and monitor engine performance, including alarm functions and maintenance alerts. This advanced telemetry product gives customers the flexibility to achieve a higher level of engine support, improving equipment utilization and efficiency for their assets worldwide. It also helps meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) new standards for reducing emissions from non-road diesel engines by incorporating engine and fuel control technologies into the Field Intelligence application.
“We are excited for ORBCOMM to be working with Field Intelligence and Controls to provide a leading edge Tier 4 engine asset monitoring solution using our satellite network,” said Brian Bell, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at ORBCOMM. “This solution will not only enable customers to address the EPA’s new emissions standards for diesel engines but also to manage their remote engine assets more efficiently.”
“We see a growing demand for remote tracking and monitoring solutions,” said Scott Izzo, Vice President of Sales for Controls, Inc. “Field Intelligence’s telemetry solution is unique and relevant to our business because it offers our customers three proven, fully integrated components: GPS tracking, global communication and on-site logic and control. It offers significant value to our customers by eliminating unnecessary field visits.”
“Controls, Inc. is a highly respected channel partner; they understand the market,” said Arturo Gomez, President and CEO of Field Intelligence, Inc. “Our ORBCOMM-powered application is a good fit for Controls because it provides a proven asset monitoring service that is cost-effective, reliable and scalable. The equation is right.”
